Smart Phone Portfolio
LG Smart phones
Between 2011 and 2014, I got the opportunity to work in the mobile phone category in LG Design India. We exclusively designed for the emerging Indian market. I worked closely with the product planning team to identify possible gaps for product innovation. Coordinating and participating in design innovation workshops, sketching, 3D modeling, creating photo realistic renderings and consumer feedback collection. My responsibilities also included data creation and coordinating design mockup development with vendors in Korea.
Shown below are some of the models designed during that tenure along with a glimpse of the design process.

PROCESS
Every Project would follow a defined design process in the organization. We at the design team were responsible for the project from getting the design brief to co partnering responsibilities with the RnD for the product launch.
Design process from creation of Design Brief to the final product launch.
coordinating Innovation workshops
Snapshots from an Innovation Workshop organised in New Delhi
Innovation workshops were conducted during the initial phases of projects to utilize the creative energies of our stake holders. Design workshops were also held with students of Design institutions for fresh and path breaking innovations. My responsibilities included participating & facilitating such workshops.
Design Direction
Design direction document for MId Segment Premium Phones
Research, Market data and Trend Overview reports were analysed to formulate a Design Direction.
Ideation and Form Generation
Sketches and Renders for the mid segment premium phones in the LG Lineup
Multiple rounds of product concept sketching were done to explore possible solutions, followed by CAD modelling and Photo realistic renderings. Shortlisted concepts are further developed to be taken for rough mock up developments.
Rough Mockups
Example of rough mock ups developed for E Line smart phones in India
Quick mock ups are developed to get an idea of the form and the ergonomics. These mock ups are then taken for a consumer feedback.
Final MOCK UP making
Example of a mock up developed for an entry level touch phone in India.
Final two designs would then be converted into realistic looking mock ups for further concept evaluation. This process was done in mock up houses in Seoul, Korea. The role of the designer is to supervise the entire process and make sure that the output is as desired.
