LG Transformer TV
LG Transformer Television - innovation for Indian market
In the booming market of LCD/LED Television in India, there was a need for the product to adapt to the Indian scenario than vice versa. The aim of the project was to identify that unique insight and introduce a disruptive design in the market.
As it was observed that majority of the Indian consumers wall mount their televisions and discard the stands, we decided to give an enhanced utility to this otherwise vestigial part. The concept of Transformer TV is to convert the television rack into a shelf stand when the TV is wall mounted so that the shelf looks as a part and extension of the design. The product was launched in 2013 in the market.

In the current time, the Indian Television market is undergoing a metamorphosis. We see a rapid phasing out of the traditional CRT televisions and they are replaced by the thin LCD/LED Televisions. And the fact that these televisions can be wall mounted is in itself a big wow factor for the Indian customer who has a paucity of space in his household. Moreover there is a stringent requirement of DTH boxes for satellite television broadcast in the country. thus creating a need for a Set top box along with its accessories to be kept near the television. Hence people use make shift arrangements to accommodate the same resulting in shabby and messy systems This was identified as an opportunity for innovation.
The shelf rack can be easily converted into the stand as and when required. The rack can further be used to keep DVD players and other multimedia gadgets without any messy external rack. Side AV slots were also provided instead of back positioning for easy access of cables and proper management.
